Crochet Umbrella Amigurumi

The crochet umbrella Amigurumi is a cute little soft toy that is perfect for making weather-themed baby mobiles and small decorations.

I initially shared the pattern as part of the weather sensory cube for babies. For the weather baby cube, I kept the umbrella as flat as possible, because I had to sew it on one of the faces of the cube.

However, I liked the idea of a little umbrella Amigurumi and decided to make a tridimensional version as well by adding a round bottom.

In this blog post, I’ll give you the pattern for making both versions of the umbrella. When instructions are different for the baby cube and the tridimensional umbrella, I’ll specify it. If the pattern does not say anything, the instructions are for both umbrellas!

If you’re making the baby cube, you could stuff your umbrella with polyfill, or also add a little squeaking toy for extra fun!

Assembly – For Weather Baby Cube

Using the long tail of yarn, sew the bottom of the umbrella by whip-stitching through the BLO from round 13 (photo 1). Before sewing the umbrella completely, fill it with some stuffing.

Assembly of the Umbrella Amigurumi

Embroider the face on the front of the umbrella.

Attach the handle in the center of the umbrella leaving round 14 of the umbrella out.

Sew the umbrella on one of the grey cube squares that you made for the weather baby cube. When sewing the handle, make sure to bend the yellow end to form a sort of hook.

Weave in all your ends.

Assembly – For Tridimensional Umbrella

Attach the safety eyes between rounds 8 and 9 of the umbrella at 5 sts of distance.

With a length of black floss, embroider the mouth, and with a length of pink, embroider the cheeks.

Curl the ends of the metallic wire so that they won’t stick out through the sts (photo 1), and insert the wire inside the handle. Sew the last round of the handle to the center of the bottom (photo 2).
