Get ready to kiss under the mistletoe with this free crochet mistletoe bouquet pattern!
Hanging mistletoe branches around the house is an ancient tradition that might date back to the Druids. However, kissing under the mistletoe might not have been a thing until around 1784, as explained in this article by the Time.
What made the mistletoe the kissing plant is not really clear, but kissing under the mistletoe is now an established tradition with references in movies, songs, and pop culture.
If you’re not a fan of the kissing-under-the-mistletoe tradition, at least, you have to admit that the mistletoe looks super festive with all its white berries, and it can add a very cheerful look to your house for the Holidays!
So, since the mistletoe does not grow anywhere around where I live, I picked up some yarn and hook, and added this crocheted mistletoe bouquet to my collection of handmade Christmas decorations.

MATERIALS
- Aran (4, Medium) Yarn
- 3.5-mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) Crochet Hook
- 5.0-mm (H/8 US, 6 UK) Crochet Hook
- Tapestry Needle
Yarn
For my mistletoe bouquet, I used:
- Green – Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in Slate Green (226)
- White – Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran in Champagne White (202)
- Red – Stylecraft Special Aran in Lipstick (1246)
ABBREVIATIONS (US TERMS)
- Ch – Chain
- Dc – Double Crochet
- Hdc – Half Double Crochet
- MC – Magic Circle
- Sc – Single Crochet
- Sk – Skip
- Sl st – Slip Stitch
- St – Stitch
- Tr – Treble Crochet
- Yo – Yarn over
PATTERN NOTES
- If the pattern says “sc 2”, you have to crochet 1 sc in each of the next 2 sts.
How to Crochet a Mistletoe Bouquet – Free Pattern
Stems
(Make 2 for each size for a total of 6 stems. The stitch count for the different sizes is indicated as X, (Y, Z))
With your 3.5-mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) hook and green, ch 47 (41, 37).
Row 1. Working in the back bumps of the initial ch, sl st across. (46, 40, 36 sts)
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Crochet Mistletoe Leaves
(Make 36)
With your 5.0-mm (H/8 US, 6 UK) hook and white, ch 11.
Row 1. Working in the back bumps of the initial ch, tr 1 in the fourth ch from your hook, tr 1, dc 2, hdc 2, sc 1, sl st 1. (8 sts)
Fasten off and weave in only one of the two tails. You will need the second tail for sewing the mistletoe leaf on the stem.
Berries
(Make 36)
Work in the round in a continuous spiral.
With your 3.5-mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) hook and white, make a MC.
Round 1. Sc 6 in MC. (6 sts)
Round 2. Sc around. (6 sts)
Fasten off and close the last round with the ultimate finish. Do not weave in your end because you will need it for assembling the mistletoe.
Bow
With your 3.5-mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) hook and red, ch 101.
Row 1. Working in the back bumps of the initial ch, sl st across. (100 sts)
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Assembly
Using the yarn tail of each mistletoe leaf, assemble the mistletoe branches by sewing 6 leaves on each stem, as shown in the picture below.
Attach two leaves at one end of the stem, and the next two paired leaves about 5-6 sts apart. This way, you’ll have a clean end of the stem for making a bouquet.
Sew 1, 2, or 3 berries at the base of each group of 2 leaves.
Using the bow, tie the mistletoe branches together.
