  • Any Yarn in 4 colors: A, B, C, and D
  • Appropriate Crochet Hook Size
  • Tapestry Needle
  • Cotton Stuffing for Amigurumi
  • 2 Safety Eyes (see below for recommended eye size for different yarn weights)
  • Black Embroidery Floss

Size & Gauge, YARN & Hook

This pattern is too small to accurately determine the gauge. Find below the approximate sizes of the ice pop made with different yarn and hooks:

How to Crochet a Popsicle or Ice Pop Amigurumi

Ice Pop

With A, ch 4.

Round 1 (RS). [Sc 3] in second ch from hook, sc 1, [sc 3] in last ch. Working on the other side of initial ch, sc 1. (8 sts)

Round 2. (Sc inc 3, sc 1) twice. (14 sts)

Round 3. *(Sc inc 1, sc 1) 3 times, sc 1. Repeat from * twice. (20 sts)

Round 4. *(Sc 2, sc inc 1) 3 times, sc 1. Repeat from * twice. (26 sts)

Round 5. Sc 3, sc inc 1, sc 4, sc inc 1, sc 7, sc inc 1, sc 4, sc inc 1, sc 4. (30 sts)

Rounds 6-8 (3 rounds). Sc around. (30 sts)

Switch to B.

Rounds 9-12 (4 rounds). Sc around. (30 sts)

Round 13. Sc around marking sps between st 13 and 14, and between st 19 and 20.

Rounds 14-15 (2 rounds). Sc around. (30 sts)

Switch to C.

Rounds 16-19 (4 rounds). Sc around. (30 sts)

On the last round, mark st 28.

Fasten off and finish the round with an invisible join.

Attach the safety eyes between round 13 and round 14 in the marked sps on round 13 (you should have 5 free sts between the eyes).

With a length of black floss, embroider the mouth.

Bottom

With C, ch 12.

Round 1 (RS). [Sc 3] in second ch from hook, sc 9, [sc 3] in last ch. Working on the other loops of initial ch, sc 9. (24 sts)

Round 2. (Sc inc 3, sc 9) twice. (30 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long (about 4 times the width of the ice pop) tail for sewing.

Popsicle Stick

With D, make a MC.

Round 1 (RS). Sc 6 in MC. (6 sts)

Rounds 2-5 (4 rounds). Sc around. (6 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Assembly

Sew the popsicle stick in the center of the right side of the bottom (photo 1).

Stuff the ice pop Amigurumi.

Thread the yarn tail of the bottom through your needle. Draw the needle through st 28 of round 19 of the ice pop from RS to WS, as shown in photo 2.

From WS to RS, draw your needle through the first st of round 2 of the bottom (photo 3).

Then, insert the needle through the next st on the ice pop (st 27 of round 19) from RS to WS, and the next st (st 2 of round 2) on the bottom from WS to RS (photo 4).

Continue all around to sew the bottom to the ice pop.

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
