Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Waffle Baby Blanket

The crochet corner-to-corner (C2C) Waffle Baby Blanket is my new baby blanket pattern, perfect for both boys and girls!

Crochet C2C Waffle Baby Blanket - Raffamusa Designs

I crocheted this blanket for a dear friend of mine who is going to become a mum soon. When I started making the blanket, the gender of the baby was still unknown, so I decided to go for a gender-neutral color and picked some soft grey yarn that I had in my stash.

If you would like to gift this baby blanket to a soon-to-be mama, you can add even more cuteness with the Waffle Heart Pillow!

Even though I wrote the pattern so that the finished blanket size would be perfect for babies, you can easily customize your blanket to make it of any size you want. You could make a throw for the couch or a larger Afghan or bedspread for your bedroom.

For the main body of the blanket, I used the C2C waffle stitch, which creates a very soft, warm, and squishy fabric. Just perfect for all the newborns of the colder months!

For the border, I kept it simple and elegant with a few rounds of a moss stitch border.

I cannot wait to gift my blanket and see all the C2C waffle baby blankets you’ll make!

This blanket mainly uses the C2C waffle stitch with a little variation for making a rectangle instead of a square. Please, find a video tutorial on how to crochet a simple square with the C2C waffle stitch HERE.

RS facing, continue to crochet from row 140.

Round 1. Sc all around working 2 sc sts on the side of each row. At the corners, sc 1 and ch 1. You should have an uneven number of sts on each side (including the sc in the corner)! When you’re back to the initial corner, sl st in the first sc to join.

Round 2. Ch 2 (counts as an initial ch and a ch-1 sp). Sk first sc, sc 1 in next st, *ch 1, sk next sc, sc 1 in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * all around. At the corners, [sc 1, ch 1 (corner), sc 1] in ch-1 sp from the previous round. Sl st in first ch-1 sp to join.

Round 3. Ch 1 (does not count as a st), and sc 1 in same ch-1 sp. *Ch 1, sk next sc, sc 1 in next ch-1 sp. Repeat from * all around. At the corners, [sc 1, ch 1 (corner), sc 1] in ch-1 sp from the previous round. Sl st in first sc to join.

Rounds 4-7 (4 rounds). Repeat rounds 2 and 3 twice more.

  1. I don’t understand what the statement below Row 75 means “On row 49 you will have 3 sts.” There is no info on Row 49 and there certainly would not be just 3 sts.
