Make a MC.

Round 1

Ch 4 (counts as a dc and a ch-1 sp), dc 1 (counts as the second dc of the first V-st), V-st 3 in MC. Sl st in third-made ch to join. (4 V-sts)

Round 2

Sl st around post of first dc (initial ch-3 of round 1), *ch 2, sl st 2 working around posts of next 2 dc. Repeat from * 3 times. Ch 2, sl st 1 around posts of next dc, sl st in first sl st to join. (8 sl sts, 4 ch-2 loops)

  • If changing yarn color, join yarn in any ch-2 sp from round 2. Otherwise, continue directly with round 3.

Round 3

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [sc 1, hdc 1, picot 1, hdc 1, sc 1] in each ch-2 sp from round 2, sl st in first sc to join. (4 petals)

Round 4

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st in ch-1 sp of first V-st from round 1. Ch 4 (counts as a dc and ch-1 sp), dc 1 in same ch-1 sp (counts as the second dc of first V-st), V-st 1 more in same ch-1 sp, [V-st 2] in each ch-1 sp from round 1. (8 V-sts)

  • If changing yarn color, join new yarn around the post of first dc of round 4.
  • If not changing color, ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st around post of first dc of round 4. Then, continue with round 5.

Round 5

*Ch 2, sl st 2 working around the posts of next 2 dc. Repeat from * 7 times. Ch 2, sl st around post of next dc. Sl st in first sl st to join. (16 sl sts, 8 ch-2 loops)

Round 6

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [sc 1, hdc 1, picot 1, hdc 1, sc 1] in each ch-2 sp from round 5, sl st in first sc to join. (8 petals)

  • If changing yarn color, join yarn in any ch-1 sp of round 4.
  • If not changing color, ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st in ch-1 sp of first V-st of round 4. Then, continue directly with round 7.

Round 7

Ch 3 (counts as first dc of first popcorn), *[popcorn 1, ch 2] twice in first V-st, [popcorn 1, ch 2] in next V-st. Repeat from * 4 times. Sl st in the first popcorn to join. (12 popcorns, 12 ch-2 sps)

  • If changing yarn color, join yarn in any ch-2 sp of round 7.
  • If not changing color, ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st in first ch-2 sp of round 7. Then, continue with round 8.

Round 8

Working in ch-2 sps from round 7, *[sc 2, hdc 1] in first sp, [hdc 1, dc 2, ch 2, dc 2, hdc 1] in next sp, [hdc 1, sc 2] in next sp. Repeat from * 4 times. Sl st in first sc to join. (12 sts on each side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)

Round 9

Ch 2 (does not count as a st), *[dc 3] between the posts of first and last sc sts of round 8 (for the next repeats, refer to sp between posts of the second and the third sc on each side), sk next 3 sts, [dc 3] between the posts of next 2 hdc sts, sk 3, [dc 3, ch 2, dc 3] in next ch-2 sp, sk 3, [dc 3] between the posts of next 2 hdc sts. Repeat from * 4 times. Sl st in the first dc to join. (15 sts on each side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)

Round 10

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc in each st around. At the corners, [hdc 2, ch 2, hdc 2]. Sl st in the first hdc to join. (19 sts on each side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)

Fasten off and weave in your ends.
