Crochet Ruffle Flower Square – Free Pattern

Hello and happy Easter Monday. I hope that you’ll enjoy a little bit of crochet with my latest pattern, the Crochet Ruffle Flower Square.

Crochet Ruffle Flower Granny Square - Free Pattern - Raffamusa Designs

This floral afghan square is very simple and fun to crochet.

It combines the classic granny stitch with a round, central flower which is crocheted using surface crochet. So, the crown of the flower has a soft and fluffy tridimensional effect.

Choose your favorite Spring colors or pick up a few scraps from your stash, and let’s crochet together!

    • Hi Christine,
Since in round 3 all the sts are worked in the back loop only (BLO), you will have the front loops of the sts of round 2 that are still free and visible on the surface of your square.
The same goes for the front loops of round 4, because round 5 is worked in the BLO, so the front loops remain free.
And on round 5 is also the same because round 6 is worked in the BLO.
So, for the ruffles, you join the yarn in any of these free loops from rounds 2, 4, and 5. To make it easier, you can fold your square at the level of rounds 2 and 3 for example, so that the free loops of round 2 are right on top of the crease and easier to crochet into.
      I hope this makes sense…
Please, let me know if you have any other questions 🙂
      Best,
      Raffaella
