Make a MC.
Round 1
Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc 14 in MC. Join with a sl st into first dc. (14 sts)
Round 2
Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc and a ch-3 sp), (sk 1, dc 1, ch 3) 6 times. Leave last st unworked, sl st into third-made ch to join. (7 dc, 7 ch-3 sps)
Round 3
Ch 1, sl st around the post of first dc (initial ch-3 of previous round), (ch 3, sl st around the post of next dc) 6 times, ch 3, sl st into first sl st to join. (7 sl sts, 7 ch-3 sps)
Only if you are going to crochet the petals (round 4) in a different color than rounds 1-3 and 5, you can crochet round 5 first!
Then, for the petals (round 4), join yarn in any ch-3 sp from round 3, and follow the pattern as written below. Otherwise, follow the pattern as written.
Round 4
Ch 1, sl st into first ch-3 sp from round 3. Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [Sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1, tr 1, picot 1, tr 1, dc 1, hdc 1, sc 1] in each ch-3 sp from round 3. Sl st into first sc to join. (7 petals)
Round 5
Ch 1, sl sl into first ch-3 sp from round 2. Ch 2, dc 5 in each ch-3 sp from round 2 all around. Sl st into the first dc to join. (35 dc)
Round 6
Ch 2, *dc 2, sc 1 in picot from the first petal, sk 1 st on round 5, dc 2, popcorn 1 in next sp between sts, ch 1. Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into the first dc to join. (28 dc, 7 sc, 7 popcorns)
Round 7
Ch 2, sk 1, dc 1 (counts as first inv-V). Ch 3, (inv-V 1, ch 3) all around. Sl st into first dc (top of first inv V) to join. (21 inv-Vs, 21 ch-3 sps)
Round 8
Ch 1, sl sl into first ch-3 sp. Round 10
Ch 1, *sc 8, [dc 4] in next ch-3 sp from round 8 (behind the petal). Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into first sc to join. (84 sts)
Round 11
Ch 2, sk 1, dc 1 (counts as first inv-V). Ch 3, (inv-V 1, ch 3) twice, inv-V 1 (the inv-V should end in the first dc of the dc-4 group from round 10), ch 1, sc 1 in picot from corresponding petal on round 9, ch 1. *(Inv-V 1, ch 3) 3 times (the first inv-V should start in first sc of next 8 sc from round 10), inv-V 1, ch 1, sc 1 into picot from corresponding petal, ch 1.
