Yo, insert hook into same st as the last one, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook. Yo, sk 1, insert hook into next st, yo, pull up a loop, yo, pull through 2 loops on hook. Finally, yo, and pull through all 3 remaining loops.

Baroque Triumph Floral Square – Free Crochet Pattern

Note. The pattern does not indicate a specific color scheme. Feel free to crochet the square in one solid color or change colors as you prefer.

Make a MC.

Round 1

Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc 14 in MC. Join with a sl st into first dc. (14 sts)

Round 2

Ch 6 (counts as 1 dc and a ch-3 sp), (sk 1, dc 1, ch 3) 6 times. Leave last st unworked, sl st into third-made ch to join. (7 dc, 7 ch-3 sps)

Round 3

Ch 1, sl st around the post of first dc (initial ch-3 of previous round), (ch 3, sl st around the post of next dc) 6 times, ch 3, sl st into first sl st to join. (7 sl sts, 7 ch-3 sps)

Only if you are going to crochet the petals (round 4) in a different color than rounds 1-3 and 5, you can crochet round 5 first!

Then, for the petals (round 4), join yarn in any ch-3 sp from round 3, and follow the pattern as written below. Otherwise, follow the pattern as written.

Round 4

Ch 1, sl st into first ch-3 sp from round 3. Ch 1 (does not count as a st), [Sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1, tr 1, picot 1, tr 1, dc 1, hdc 1, sc 1] in each ch-3 sp from round 3. Sl st into first sc to join. (7 petals)

Round 5

Ch 1, sl sl into first ch-3 sp from round 2. Ch 2, dc 5 in each ch-3 sp from round 2 all around. Sl st into the first dc to join. (35 dc)

Round 6

Ch 2, *dc 2, sc 1 in picot from the first petal, sk 1 st on round 5, dc 2, popcorn 1 in next sp between sts, ch 1. Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into the first dc to join. (28 dc, 7 sc, 7 popcorns)

Round 7

Ch 2, sk 1, dc 1 (counts as first inv-V). Ch 3, (inv-V 1, ch 3) all around. Sl st into first dc (top of first inv V) to join. (21 inv-Vs, 21 ch-3 sps)

Round 8

Ch 1, sl sl into first ch-3 sp. Ch 2 (does not count as a st), [(popcorn 1, ch 1) 3 times] in current ch-3 sp, *sc 1 in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc 1 in next ch-3 sp, ch 1, [(popcorn 1, ch 1) 3 times] in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * 6 times. Sc 1 in next ch-3 sp, ch 3, sc 1 in next ch-3 sp, ch 1, sl st into first popcorn to join. (7 groups of 3 popcorn/ch-1 sp, 14 sc, 7 ch-3 sps)

Round 9

Ch 1, *[sc 2] in each of next 4 ch-1 sps. Working in the corresponding ch-3 sp from round 7, [sc 1, hdc 1, dc 1, tr 1, picot 1]. In next ch-3 sp from round 7, [tr 1, dc 1, hdc 1, sc 1]. sl st to join. Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into first sc to join. (56 sc, 7 petals)

Round 10

Ch 1, *sc 8, [dc 4] in next ch-3 sp from round 8 (behind the petal). Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into first sc to join. (84 sts)

Round 11

Ch 2, sk 1, dc 1 (counts as first inv-V). Ch 3, (inv-V 1, ch 3) twice, inv-V 1 (the inv-V should end in the first dc of the dc-4 group from round 10), ch 1, sc 1 in picot from corresponding petal on round 9, ch 1. *(Inv-V 1, ch 3) 3 times (the first inv-V should start in first sc of next 8 sc from round 10), inv-V 1, ch 1, sc 1 into picot from corresponding petal, ch 1. Repeat * 6 times. Sl st into first dc (top of first inv-V) to join. (28 inv-Vs, 21 ch-3 sps, 7 ch-sc-ch groups)

Round 12

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sl st into first ch-3 sp. *[Hdc 4] in first ch-3 sp, [sc 4] in next ch-3 sp, [hdc 4] in next ch-3 sp, [dc 4] in next sc. Repeat from * 7 times. Sl st into first hdc to join. (56 hdc, 28 sc, 28 dc)

Round 13

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), sc 4, hdc 4, *sk 4, tr 1, ch 2, ([tr 1, ch 2] twice in next st) twice, tr 1, sk 4, hdc 4, sc 8, hdc 4. Repeat from * 3 times. Sk 4, tr 1, ch 2, ([tr 1, ch 2] twice in next st) twice, tr 1, sk 4, hdc 4, sc 4. Sl st into first sc to join. (8 sc, 8 hdc on each side; 6 tr, 5 ch-2 sps at the corners)

Round 14

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc 5, dc 3, sk next tr. *Corner: (in next ch-2 sp, [popcorn 1, ch 2] twice, popcorn 1 in next ch-2 sp, ch 2) twice. [Popcorn 1, ch 2, popcorn 1] in next ch-2 sp, ch 1. Side: sk next tr, dc 3, hdc 10, dc 3. Repeat from * 3 times. Work one more corner, sk next tr, dc 3, hdc 5. Sl st into first hdc to join. (10 hdc, 6 dc on each side; 8 popcorns, 7 ch-2 sps, 1 ch-1 sp at the corners)

Round 15

Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc 8, *[dc 2] in each of next 3 ch-2 sps, [dc 3, ch 2, dc 3] in next ch-2 sp, [dc 2] in each of next 3 ch-2 sps, sk next ch-1 sp, dc 16. Repeat from * 3 times. [Dc 2] in each of next 3 ch-2 sps, [dc 3, ch 2, dc 3] in next ch-2 sp, [dc 2] in each of next 3 ch-2 sps, sk next ch-1 sp, dc 8. Sl st into first dc to join. (34 dc on each side; 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)

Round 16

Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc all around. At each ch-2 corner, [hdc 2, ch 1, hdc 2]. Sl st into the first hdc to join. (38 hdc on each side; 1 ch-1 sp at each corner)

Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
