  • 3.5-mm (E/4 USA, 9 UK) Crochet Hook
  • 4.5-mm (G/7 USA, 7 UK) Crochet Hook
  • DK (3, Light) Cotton Yarn
  • Tapestry Needle

I used Paintbox Yarns Cotton DK (137 yds / 125 m per 50 g) in the following colors and amounts:

  • A – Pure Black (402) – 7.5 yds / 6.9 m
  • B – Grass Green (430) – 27.6 yds / 25.1 m
  • C – Champagne White (403) – 96.5 yds / 88 m
  • D – Pillar Red (415) – 5.5 yds / 5 m

12.5″ (32 cm) along the longest diagonal.
11.5″ (29 cm) from side to side.

Gauge

4 rounds of the hexagon base pattern in 4″ (10 cm) measuring along the longest diagonal of the hexagon.

Eyeball

With your 3.5-mm hook and A, make a MC.

Round 1. Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), dc 12 in MC, sl st 1 in first st to join the round. (12 sts)

Round 2. Ch 2, dc inc 12, sl st 1 in first st. (24 sts)

Round 3. Ch 2, (dc inc 1, dc 1) 12 times, sl st 1 in first st. (36 sts)

Fasten off A.

Join B in the first st of round 3.

Round 4. Ch 2, dc 1, (dc inc 1, dc 2) 11 times, dc inc 1, dc 1, sl st 1 in first st. (48 sts)

Round 5. Ch 2, (dc inc 1, dc 3) 12 times, sl st 1 in first st. (60 sts)

Round 6. Ch 2, dc 2, (dc inc 1, dc 4) 11 times, dc inc 1, dc 2, sl st 1 in first st. (72 sts)

Round 7. Ch 2, (dc inc 1, dc 5) 12 times, sl st 1 in first st. (84 sts)

Fasten off B.

Join C in the first st of round 7.

Sl st 20, sc inc 1, sl st 11, [sc 1, hdc 1] in next st, [dc 1, hdc 1] in next st, sc 1, sl st 16, [sc 1, hdc 1] in next st, [hdc 1, sc 1] in next st, sc 1, sl st 12, sc inc 1, sl st 7, [sc 1, hdc 1] in next st, dc inc 1, [hdc 1, sc 1] in next st, sc 1, sl st 10, sc inc 1, sl st 3, sc inc 1, sl st 10, [sc 1, hdc 1] in next st, [hdc 1, sc 1] in next st, sl st 15, sc 1, [sc 1, hdc 1] in next st, dc inc 1, [hdc 1, sc 1] in next st, sl st 10, sc inc 1, sl st 8, sc 1, hdc inc 1, sc 1, sl st 10, sc inc 1, sl st 10, join with a sl st 1 in initial st. (186 sts)

Fasten off and weave in all your ends.

Eye Shadow

With your 4.5-mm hook and C, make a MC.

Round 1. Sc 6 in MC, sl st 1 in first sc to join. (6 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.

Finishing

Sew the eye shadow in the top, left corner of the pupil (rounds 1-3 of the eye).

Use the long tail of yarn of the shadow to embroider a few short lines below the shadow.

With a length of D of about 121″ (3 m), embroider short lines from the edge of round 14 toward the center of the eye. Keep the embroidered lines between rounds 12 and 14 of the eye.

Weave in all your ends.
