Candy
(Make 2, candy 1 and candy 2)
Work in the round without joining rounds with a sl st.
With A, make a MC.
Round 1. Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc 11 in MC. (11 sts)
Round 2. Hdc inc 11. (22 sts)
Round 3. (Hdc inc 1, hdc 1) 11 times. (33 sts)
Round 4. (Hdc inc 1, hdc 2) 11 times. (44 sts)
Round 5. Sc 1, sl st 1. Leave the remaining 42 sts unworked. (2 sts)
Fasten off.
Swirls
For both candies:
RS facing, with B, surface crochet sl st starting from st 1 of round 1 and following the sps between rounds 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, and 4-5 of the candy. Then, surface crochet sl st 2 more sts (photos 1 and 2).
Candy 1:
Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
Candy 2:
Do not fasten off B.
Instead, only weave in the first yarn end (the one where you joined B for the swirls), and move on to the joining part.
Joining
Join the two candies using the sl st joining method as follows:
- Continuing from the swirls on the second candy, insert your hook in the BLO of the next st.
- Hold the first candy close to your work with the WS facing the WS of the other candy (RS facing out).
- Insert your hook in the inner loop of the last st of round 5 of the first candy (photo 3).
- Yo and pull yarn through all loops on your hook.
- Continue joining all around by sl stitching the inner loops together until you have 2 sts remaining on each candy (photo 4).
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Stick
Join C, in the first free st on either candy (photo 5).
Round 1. Sc 2 working in the free sts of the same candy as joining, sc 1 on the side of the sl st joining, sc 2 working in the free sts on the other candy, sc 1 on the side of the sl st joining on the other side. (6 sts, photo 6)
Do not join but continue to work in the round!
Round 2. Sc around. (6 sts)
Repeat round 2 until your lollipop stick measures about 2″ (5 cm).
Fasten off leaving a long tail and sew the sts of the last round close. Weave in all your ends.
Ribbon
With E, ch 8.
Row 1. Sc 7 from the second ch from hook. (7 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Bow
With D, ch 4.
Round 1. Mini puff 1 in the third ch from hook, ch 2, sl st in the same ch as mini puff, ch 4, sl st 3 from the second ch from hook, sl st back into the same ch as mini puff, sl st in next ch (first-made ch).
Ch 4, sl st 3 from the second ch from hook, sl st back into first-made ch.
Ch 2, mini puff 1 in the second ch from hook, ch 2, sl st back into the base of the mini puff.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Assembly
Sew the ribbon around the stick just below the candy.
Place the bow on the ribbon on one side of the lollipop, and with a length of E, attach it to the ribbon by embroidering a few stitches in the middle of the bow.
Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
With a short piece of yarn or rope, make a hanging loop for your lollipop ornament.
