The tapestry crochet Swirling Leaves Potholder is the September for my A Year of Potholders collection.
August is almost over and after this extremely hot summer, I’m so looking forward to the cozy vibes of Fall.
Even thoguh September is not technically Autumn yet, the leaves are already turning orange over here. Moreover, a chill wind has been making the past few nights much more comfortable for my couch & crochet sessions.
So, everything seems to tell me that it’s time to start prepping for Autumn!
For this potholder, I used Aran-weight cotton yarn and tapestry crochet to make a thick and solid hot pad. The fabric of this potholder really doesn’t have any holes, making cooking and baking super safe!
A YEAR OF POTHOLDERS
For 2022, I’ve been sharing one or two tapestry crochet potholders for each month of the year.
The idea is to create a sort of crochet calendar, and refresh your kitchen decor with a new design each month!

Keep in mind that the free patterns here on the blog will only have the written instructions, while the PDF and ebook have both written instructions and color charts!

Sc 32 on the left side, ch 1, sc 34 on the bottom, ch 1, sc 32 on the right side of the potholder. Ch 1, and join the round with a sl st into the first st. (32 sts on top and bottom, 34 sts on left and right sides, 1 ch at each corner).
Hanging Loop. Ch 1, turn (WS). Ch 14 (15 chs in total). Sl st into next st of the border to form a loop. Ch 1, turn (RS). Sc 18 inside the loop you just created.
