When you’re new to crocheting garments, there are a lot of things that can be intimidating.

First of all, there’s the gauge to take into account, and how to crochet something that really fits you!

But that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Behind gauge and making clothes that fit, there’s the right choice of yarn, understanding the different shapes of clothing, how to adapt them to different body types, and getting a nice drape.

So, yes, crocheting garments can be quite intimidating.

That’s why it’s good to start with something easy peasy like this Comfy Cocoon Shrug!

Cocoons are some of the easiest garments you can crochet, and if you can crochet a blanket, you can be sure that you’ll definitely be able to crochet a shrug as well!

How to crochet an easy cocoon shrug using Tunisian crochet

For making a Tunisian crochet cocoon cardigan, all you need to make is actually just a square or rectangle and fold it the right way to transform it into a cardigan.

You’ll find more info about the construction further down in this article.

For now, all you need to do is to grab your Tunisian crochet hook and some yarn.

Since we’ll need to fit the entire piece on the hook, it’s important to have a Tunisian crochet hook with a cord extension.

Ideally, you can use any Tunisian crochet stitch for your shrug.

However, many Tunisian stitches can be quite bulky and solid.

That’s why for my Spring shrug, I chose to use the Tunisian Top Loop Stitch (Ttls), which creates a lightweight fabric with the perfect drape!
