Crochet a Heart Applique in 5 different sizes with these free crochet patterns! You can crochet these quick and easy embellishments in just a few minutes and with some scrap yarn.
These crochet hearts are perfect to make Valentine’s Day cards and gift tags, or to add a cute finishing touch to your baby items, accessories, blankets, or really, any project!
I had initially designed a heart in one size, the large one. You can see a few examples of large hearts in the picture below, or take a look at the pink heart in the picture above.
However, for one of my Valentine’s Granny Squares, I wanted to make a progression of hearts, starting from a tiny, extra small heart and ending with a very large heart. So, I decided to update this post to include all the heart sizes and have them in one place.
So, here, you’ll first find the pattern of the large (L) heart applique, which is the one that I had originally shared a few years ago and that also comes with a video tutorial. Then, you’ll find the extra small (XS) heart, the small (S), the medium (M), and the extra large (XL) hearts.

Whenever I make an amigurumi creature, I like to make a little heart to stuff inside, to give it a little extra magic. This applique pattern is so quick and easy that I have it memorized, and every new friend I make gets a little extra love. This pattern was exactly what I was looking for and I use it frequently. Sincere thank you to the creator(s).
That’s such a cute idea! I might start putting hearts inside my Amigurumi too 🙂
