And since we’re here, we’ll also add two hearts and a cute white flower to the bunch!

Fruit Crochet Squares

The inspiration to crochet some fruit squares came from my fruit appliques, which I made over 2 years ago.

You probably remember my strawberry applique, the apple, and the lemon one.

Starting from these appliques, I tweaked the patterns a little and came up with the Tutti Frutti Granny Squares!

Unlike the previous square collections where the basic square pattern was the simple circle granny square, this time, I really wanted to pay a tribute to the classic granny square.

For this reason, the fruit center of each square counts as the first two rounds of a granny square.

Then, the squaring with the classic granny stitch will turn each fruit into a granny with 4 rounds! Or as many rounds as you wish…

What to Crochet with the Tutti Frutti Granny Squares?

These fruit granny squares are perfect for a little mix & match with the classic granny squares.

You can make anything from blankets to market bags, mason jar covers, garlands, dresses, sun hats, zipper pouches, pillowcases, etc.

  1. I love these fruity granny squares-your designs are always my favorites and I can recognize them instantly-right now I’m working on the ‘lemon potholder’ design-I’m slow at tapestry crochet but I love the result. I want to do more but I think I might try the CAL for the fruity granny squares-the bright colors just pop against the background color . Thanks for such fun and beautiful designs-I’m happy for you for having ‘a long vacation’-
