To crochet these spiderweb Halloween coasters, we will use a solid hexagon with no gaps as the base and surface crochet embroider the spiderweb in a contrasting yarn color.

For both techniques, I prepared a step-by-step video tutorial. So, grab your hook, and let’s crochet some coasters!

Hexagon coaster

With A, work 4 rounds of a completely solid hexagon.

Find the crochet pattern and video tutorial of the solid hexagon HERE.

Spiderweb

*RS facing, with B, surface crochet sl st following the sps between rounds 1 and 2 of the hexagon.

To complete the round invisibly, leave a 1-st gap between the first sl st and the last one for each round. Cut the yarn and slide the tail to the RS.

Using your tapestry needle, make an invisible join by drawing the yarn under both loops of your first sl st and then, into the center of the last sl st.

Repeat from * following the sps between rounds 2 and 3, and 3 and 4.

Border

Join B in BLO of any st from round 4.

Round 1. BLO sl st 1 in each dc of round 1 and BLO sl st 2 in each tr. (60 sts)

Fasten off and weave in your ends.

Rays

**Join B in any dc of round 1 where you worked a [dc 1, tr 1, dc 1] in round 2.
