- 6.0-mm (J/10 US, 4 UK) Crochet Hook
- Aran (4, Medium) Weight Yarn
- Tapestry Needle

I used scrap amounts of Paintbox Yarns Simply Aran (201 yds / 184m per 100 g).

The gauge is not crucial for this project.
PATTERN NOTES
- If the pattern says “dc 2”, you have to crochet 1 dc in each of the next 2 sts.

Crochet Pop Petals Flower Square
Make a MC.
Round 1. Ch 2 (does not count as a st), dc 12 in MC, sl st in the first dc to join. (12 sts)
Round 2. Ch 2, dc in next st (counts as 1 dc2tog), ch 2, (dc2tog making the first dc in same st as second leg of last dc2tog, ch 2) 11 times working the last dc2tog with the first leg in st 12 of round 1 and the second leg in st 1 of round 1, sl st in the first dc2tog to join. (12 dc2tog, 12 ch-2 sps)
Round 3. Sl st in first ch-2 sp of round 2, ch 3 (counts as first dc of first popcorn), popcorn 1 in first ch-2 sp, ch 3, (popcorn 1 in next ch-2 sp, ch 3) 11 times, sl st in the first popcorn to join. (12 popcorns, 12 ch-3 sps)
Squaring
Round 4. Ch 1, sl st in first ch-3 sp of round 3. Working in ch-3 sps from round 3, sc 1 in first sp, *[sc 2, hdc 1] in next sp, [hdc 1, dc 2, ch 2, dc 2, hdc 1] in next sp, [hdc 1, sc 2] in next sp. Repeat from * 3 times. [Sc 2, hdc 1] in next sp, [hdc 1, dc 2, ch 2, dc 2, hdc 1] in next sp, [hdc 1, sc 1] in initial ch-2 sp, sl st in first sc to join. (12 sts per side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)
Round 5. Ch 1, sl st between posts of first 2 sc sts. Ch 2, *[dc 3] in same sp between posts, [dc 3] between posts of next 2 hdc sts, [dc 3, ch 2, dc 3] in next ch-2 sp, [dc 3] between posts of next 2 hdc sts, [dc 3] between posts of second and third sc from the previous round. Repeat from * 3 times, [dc 3] between posts of next 2 hdc sts, [dc 3, ch 2, dc 3] in next ch-2 sp, [dc 3] between posts of next 2 hdc sts, sl st in first dc to join. (15 sts per side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)
Round 6. Ch 1 (does not count as a st), hdc in each st around. At the corners, [hdc 2, ch 2, hdc 2]. Sl st in the first hdc to join. (19 sts on each side, 1 ch-2 sp at each corner)
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
