- A small amount of Yarn of Choice
- Appropriate Hook Size
- Tapestry Needle
COLOR REFERENCE
I used Schachenmayr Catania in the following colors:
- A – Red (00115)
- B – Brown – Maroon (00157)
- C – Yellow – Canary (002908)
- D – Natural (00105)
SIZE
With Sport weight cotton yarn (I used Schachenmayr Catania) and a 2.5-mm hook, the North Pole Sign Applique will measure 3.1″ (8 cm) by 3.6″ (9 cm).
GAUGE
This pattern is too small to accurately determine the gauge.

CROCHET North Pole Sign APPLIQUE – FREE PATTERN
Pole Applique
With A, ch 23.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from your hook. Sc 21. (22 sts)
Row 2. Ch 1, turn. Sc 22. (22 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing
With D, embroider diagonal lines along the pole.
Light Bulb Applique
With C, make a MC.
Round 1. Ch 1, hdc 11 in MC. Join the round with a sl st into first st. (11 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Snow Pile Applique
With D, ch 14.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from your hook. Hdc 1, dc inc 2, hdc 1, sc 3, hdc 1, dc 1, hdc 1, sc 1, sl st 1. (15 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Wooden Sign Applique
With B, ch 21.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from your hook. Sc 19. (20 sts)
Row 2. Ch 2, turn. Sc 1 in the second ch from your hook, sc 19. Leave last st unworked. (20 sts)
Row 3-4. Ch 1, turn. Sc 19. (19 sts)
Row 5. Ch 3, turn. Sc 1 in the second ch from your hook, sc 20. (21 sts)
Row 6. Ch 2, turn. Sc 1 in the second ch from your hook, sc 21. (22 sts)
Row 7. Ch 1, turn. Sc 22. (22 sts)
Row 8. Ch 1, turn. Sl st 1, sc 20. Leave the last st unworked. (21 sts)
Row 9. Ch 1, turn. Sl st 1, sc 18. Leave the last two sts unworked. (19 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing
With a length of D, embroider the “North Pole” directions on the wooden sign applique.
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Snowflake Applique
(Make 4 or more)
With D, make a MC.
Round 1. Sc 6 in the MC. Join the round with a sl st into the first st. (6 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Assembly
First, attach the pole applique, and then, add the light bulb applique on top of the pole.
Attach the snow pile applique at the bottom, slightly covering the base of the pole applique.
Place the wooden sign applique over the top half of the pole, but not completely to the top.
Attach the snowflake appliques all around the North Pole sign.
Weave in all your ends.
