Colors of the Wind Necklace

Proud to introduce you to my Colors of the Wind Necklace! This crocheted necklace will sure be one of your most stunning accessories. A simple and neat design that will fit with your most elegant and trendy outfits.

The Colors of the Wind Necklace was inspired by my absolute favorite necklace since I was a little girl watching Disney animation movies. Take a close look at the picture and try to guess which one it is… Yes, you’re right, Pocahontas! Now, I know some people might think Pocahontas is one of the weakest Disney movies, but I’m surely not one of them. I was always amazed by the colors and designs used in Pocahontas, the songs, and the characters. I guess Grandma Willow has been the first true guru of my life!
I have always wanted to have a necklace like the one Pocahontas got from her mother, so here it is, a free crocheted reinterpretation of it.

For the realization of the Colors of the Wind Necklace, I chose Egyptian cotton crochet thread. Egyptian cotton is particularly beautiful as it has that additional shiny effect typical of silk. Plus, it combines the stretch of the thread with very good strength.
The necklace took around 15 g of thread, corresponding to approximately 65 m (71 yards).

Prepare your thread and hook, and let’s crochet!

Necklace Construction

The Color of the Wind Necklace is made of seven parts (see figure). The starting point is the main chain to which we’ll then add block A right side and block B right side. The next blocks will be added in order block C right and left side, block B left side, and block A left side. The necklace is then completed by the decorations in contrasting color, and the lobster claw and short chain for closing the necklace.
