Crochet Geometric Shapes Amigurumi - Montessori Set - Raffamusa Designs

I made these 3D geometrical shapes for my first niece who is starting to learn more about shapes and volumes.

Normally, you can find this kind of toy in wood or plastic, but I thought why not crochet them? Especially when you can make them with your favorite scrap yarnwink, wink! – and add a little rattling ball or squeaker inside for extra sound!

Single Crochet Triangle in the Round - Raffamusa Designs

Assembly

Cut a length of yarn of approximately 45″ (114 cm).

Using the whip stitch, start by seaming together two sides of any of the two triangles. We’ll call these first two triangles T1 and T2 (photo 2 below).

Make sure that both T1 and T2, and all the triangles that you’ll sew later have the RS facing out!

Then, join the next side of T2 with one side of another triangle, which we’ll call T3 (these are the sides labeled as “b” in photo 2. The arrow in the picture shows the direction of seaming).

Paying extra attention that the RS of all triangles is facing out, sew the last free side of T2 with one side of the last triangle (T4, photo 3).

Next, seam the adjacent sides of T4 and T1 (labeled d in photo 4), and then, the last side of T4 with the adjacent side of T3 (labeled e in photo 5).

Now, you only have two last sides to sew (photos 6-7). Stuff your pyramid and add a little rattling ball inside.

Then, cut a length of yarn of about 8″ (20 cm), and sew the last two sides to close the pyramid.

Weave in all your ends.

  1. Tried to get the FREE courtesy pattern from the Underground Crafter Giftstravaganza Blog Hop, there was no coupon code I could find, nor was there anything on Ravelry to receive it for free, tried even to go through the payment process, and it wanted my payment information.
