Brim
With your 2.75-mm hook, join white in any st from round 10 of the hat (photo 1), ch 4.
Row 1. Sc 1 in the second ch from hook, sc 2. Sl st 2 working in next 2 sts on round 10 (photos 2-3). (3 sc, 2 sl sts)
Row 2. Ch 1 (does not count as a st here and throughout), turn. Sk next 2 sl sts, and BLO sc 3 working in the sc sts from row 1 (photo 4). (3 sts)
Row 3. Ch 1, turn. BLO sc 3. Sl st 2 working in next 2 sts on round 11 (photos 5-6). (3 sc, 2 sl sts)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 for a total of 11 times. At the end of the last repeat of row 3, sl st 1 instead of 2.
Joining
Using the sl st join, join the first and last rows of the brim (alternatively, fasten off and seam the two rows together).
Fasten off and weave in your ends.
Pompom
With white, make a mini pompom as follows:
Step 1. Take a couple of pens or pencils and hold them together to create a support. Make sure that the pens don’t have rubber grips of large parts at either end otherwise you won’t be able to remove the yarn.
Step 2. Roll the yarn around the support until you have a mini ball (photo 7), and cut the yarn.
Step 3. Slide the mini ball of yarn from the support, and with a length of white, tie the ball in the center (photo 8) following the direction shown by the dashed line in photo 7.
Step 4. Cut the folded strands of yarn at both sides of the pompom (photo 9).
Step 5. Open up the pompom and trim it to make it round and nice (photos 10-11).
Finishing
Attach the pompom on top of the hat.
Optional
With a length of white, embroider a few snowflakes or other decorations of your choice on the hat.
Fasten off and weave in all your ends.
