Large Heart Granny Squares for the Heart Market Bag - Raffamusa Designs

This granny square is very simple. Essentially, it is a classic granny square.

However, to make it more unique, we’ll use a contrasting yarn color to crochet certain 3-double-crochet blocks in the center of the granny square to make the shape of a heart.

The idea is not new and already a while ago, I share the pattern of a similar heart granny square where the heart was completed with just 3 rounds. You can find that pattern HERE.

Now, this little square is perfect for making smaller squares of up to 6 or 7 rounds. However, that heart starts getting a bit too small if you need a larger granny square of 8 or more rounds.

This is why I decided to share this new pattern for a large heart granny square.

I used the large heart granny square as part of my Rainbow Granny Blanket and for the Granny Heart Market Bag. But I’m looking forward to seeing your creations using it!

In this square pattern, the heart is completed in the sixth round, and then, you can keep growing your granny square as large as you want.

RAINBOW GRANNY BLANKET CAL

The pattern of the Large Heart Granny Square is part of the Rainbow Granny Blanket CAL.

If you’re taking part in the CAL, crochet the Large Heart Granny Square as described in the pattern below.

After round 7, add 3 more rounds working as for a regular granny square, so that the square has 10 rounds in total!
