Learn how to crochet half-square solid triangles with these free pattern tutorials.
The more classic half granny square triangle is the one that is labeled 1 in the picture above.
However, when I talk about half-square solid triangles I mean triangles number 2 and 3 in the picture above. These are exactly half a solid granny square folded along the diagonal.
The two types of half-square solid triangles are:
- Classic double crochet triangle (number 2 in the picture above)
- Completely solid triangle without gaps (number 3 in the picture above)
Classic Half Solid Granny Square
The classic double crochet triangle is half a classic solid granny square if you cut the square along the diagonal (see pic below).
This half-square triangle is perfect for making blankets, garment elements, decorative projects, etc.
Of course, remember that if you’d like to crochet a triangle scarf or shawl, it is best to use a solid double-crochet triangle that does not make a right angle at the tip. Instead, I suggest you try this slight variation HERE that has the shape of an isosceles obtuse triangle.
Half Solid Granny Square – Without Any Gaps!
Going back to the half-square triangles that we’ll see in this post, the second one is a completely solid triangle without gaps. This is half a completely solid granny square, which does not have any gaps or holes, not even at the corners or the tip (see picture below).
The completely solid triangle pattern is ideal if you want to crochet a full, warm fabric.
So, pick the half-square triangle that you like the most, and let’s start crocheting!
