Half Hexagons

I used these half hexagons in the Honeycomb Kitchen Towel of my bee- and honeycomb-inspired kitchen collection. But you can use them in any pattern that you’re building with hexagons.

After making a few hexagons, you’ve probably realized that those edges are not going to be straight unless you fill the gaps with some half shapes.

Hexagons are not quite like classic granny squares, where you only need to crochet one kind of half granny to fill those holes on the border.

Instead, with hexagons, you’ll need two different kinds of half hexagons in order to make a perfectly straight edge.

So, in this tutorial, I’ll show you how to crochet both shapes:

  • the half solid hexagon with a pointy side;
  • and the half solid hexagon with a flat/squared side.
