Materials
- Any yarn
- Appropriate crochet hook size
For this tutorial, I used Aran-weight (4, medium) yarn and a 5.5 mm (I/9 US, 5 UK) hook.
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- Ch – Chain
- Dc – Double Crochet
- Inc – Increase

Patterns Notes
- If the pattern says “dc 2”, you need to dc 1 in each of the next 2 sts.
- (…) – Repeat the instructions within parenthesis for the indicated number of times.
- *… – Repeat the instructions from * for the indicated number of times.
- […] – Crochet the instructions within square brackets in the same indicated st.
Crochet Granny Stitch Triangle in the Round
Make a MC.
Round 1
Ch 5 (counts as a dc and a ch-3 sp here and throughout) (photo1), (dc 3 in MC, ch 3) twice, dc 2 in MC, sl st in third-made ch to join. (9 dc sts, 3 3-ch sps, photo 2)
Round 2
Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 5 (photo 3). [Dc 3] in same ch-3 sp (photo 4).
(Ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3, ch 3, dc 3] in next ch-3 sp (photos 5-6)) twice, ch 1, sk 3, [dc 2] in initial ch-3 sp (indicated by the arrow in photo 6).
Sl st in third-made ch to join. (18 dc sts, 3 ch-3 sps, 3 ch-1 sps, photo 7)
Round 3
Sl st in first ch-3 sp, ch 5. [Dc 3] in same ch-3 sp (photo 8), *ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3] in next ch-1 sp (indicated by the arrow in photo 8), ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3, ch 3, dc 3] in next ch-3 sp. Repeat from * twice. Ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3] in next ch-1 sp, ch 1, sk 3, [dc 2] in initial ch-3 sp. Sl st in third-made ch to join. (27 sts, 3 ch-3 sps, 6 ch-1 sps, photo 9)
Keep growing your triangle as follows:
- Sl st in first ch-3 sp, and ch 5 (counts as dc and a ch-3 sp);
- [Dc 3] in same ch-3 sp;
- Ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3] in each ch-1 sp on each side;
- Ch 1, sk 3, [dc 3, ch 3, dc 3] in each ch-3 sp;
- Ch 1, sk 3, [dc 2] in initial ch-3 sp.
- Sl st in third-made ch to join.
