The crochet Christmas Stocking Applique is the last pattern of my Christmas Applique Collection.
This applique pattern was also part of the Christmas Granny Squares since I used it to make a Christmas Stocking Granny Square.
But there are many ways in which you can use this applique, from DIY Christmas cards to magnets, gift tags, and little Christmas tree ornaments.

AD-FREE Printable PATTERN

MATERIALS
- A small amount of Yarn of Choice
- Appropriate Hook Size
- Tapestry Needle
COLOR REFERENCE
- A – Red
- B – White
SIZE
With sport weight cotton yarn (I used Schachenmayr Catania) and a 2.5-mm hook, each stocking will measure 1.2″ (3 cm) by 2.3″ (5.8 cm).
GAUGE
This pattern is too small to accurately determine the gauge. Just keep in mind that the final size will depend on the yarn and hook you use.

BLO – Back Loop Only
Ch – Chain
Dc – Double Crochet
Hdc – Half Double Crochet
Sc – Single Crochet
Sl St – Slip Stitch
St – Stitch

- If the pattern says to “sc 2”, it means that you have to crochet 1 sc in each of the next two sts.

CROCHET Christmas Stocking APPLIQUE – FREE PATTERN

With A, ch 6.
Row 1. Sc in the second ch from your hook and in each remaining ch. (5 sts)
Row 2-9. Ch 1, turn. Sc 5. (5 sts)
Row 10. Without chaining, turn your work. Sk 2, [dc 3] in the next st.
Working along the post of the last dc, [sc 1, hdc 1].
Hdc 1 in the same st where you made the 3 dc.
Sc in the next st of row 9, sl st into the last st.
Row 11-12. Ch 1, turn. Sc 5.
Row 13. Without chaining, turn your work. Sk 2, dc 6 in the next st. Sk 1, sl st into the last st.
Crocheting around the stocking:
Round 1. Ch 1, sc 3, sc inc 3, sc 9 along rows 1-9, ch 1, sc 5 on the top of the stocking, ch 1, sc 9 along rows 1-9. Sc 2 along rows 11-12. (Sc inc 1, sc 1) 3 times. Join the round with a sl st into the first sc.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Ribbing Applique
With B, ch 5.
Row 1. Sc in second ch from your hook, sc in each ch across. (4 sts)
Row 2-8. Ch 1, turn. BLO sc across. (4 sts)
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
Finishing
Using a contrasting color yarn, embroider the heel, the toe, and the body of the stockings.
Attach the ribbing on the top side of the stocking.
Weave in all your ends.
