PRINTABLE CROCHET PATTERN

Materials
- Any yarn
- Appropriate crochet hook size
For my leaves, I used DK (3, light) acrylic yarn and a 3.5 mm (E/4 US, 9 UK) hook.
Size
When crocheted with DK acrylic yarn and a 3.5-mm hook, you can expect a leaf of about 2.6″ by 2.2″ (6.5 by 5.5 cm).
Abbreviations (US Terms)
- Ch – Chain
- Inc – Increase
- MC – Magic Circle
- Picot – Picot
- Sc – Single Crochet
- Sl St – Slip Stitch
- St – Stitch
- Yo – Yarn Over
Special Stitches
Increase (Inc)
One increase consists of 2 sts made in the same indicated st.

Picot Stitch (Picot)
Ch 3, sl st in the back bump of the first ch.
Patterns Notes
- If the pattern says “sc 2”, you need to sc 1 in each of the next 2 sts.
- (…) – Repeat the instructions within parenthesis for the indicated number of times.
- *… or **… – Repeat the instructions from * or ** for the indicated number of times.
- […] – Repeat the instructions within square brackets all in the same indicated st.
Crochet Birch Leaf Applique – Free Pattern
Make a MC.
Round 1. Ch 2 (does not count as a st here and throughout), dc 12 in MC, join with a sl st in first dc. (12 sts)
Round 2. Ch 1 (does not count as a st here and throughout), sc 1 in first st, hdc 1, [dc 4], hdc inc 2, dc inc 2, hdc inc 2, [dc 4], hdc 1, sc 1. Ch 5, sl st 4 starting from second ch from hook, sl st in first st of round 1. (24 sts plus the stem)
Round 3. Ch 2, *sl st 1 in next st, [sc 1, ch 2, sl st 1]. Repeat from * 5 times. [Sl st 1, ch 1, dc 1], picot 1 (do not sk any sts), [dc 1, ch 1, sl st 1], **sl st 1, [sl st 1, ch 2, sc 1]. Repeat from ** 5 times. Sl st 1. Leave remaining sts unworked.
Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing.
