Crochet Basic Fingerless Gloves

Today, I would like to share with you my very easy pattern to make a pair of Crochet Basic Fingerless Gloves.

Basic Fingerless Gloves

Simple Designs, Easy Stitches

These gloves are very easy to crochet so that the pattern is also accessible to crochet beginners.

Really, all the stitches that you’ll need to master to make your pair of fingerless gloves are single crochet and half double crochet!

The only challenge for a total crochet beginner can be the decreases.

But don’t worry, you can find written instructions for how to make a half double crochet decrease further down in the pattern. Or, if you prefer learning from a video, you can check this YouTube tutorial.

However, easy doesn’t mean uncomfortable or not usable! These fingerless gloves are very functional and you’ll put them to use immediately!

All You Need is Some Scrap Yarn!

One other thing that I love about these gloves is that they really need very little yarn, a.k.a. scrap yarn!

The scrap yarn that I used is some beautiful Katia Concept Ultralight Merino, which I had left from my Tunisian Crochet Concept Cowl.

Actually, from the little bit of yarn that I had left from my cowl, I managed to squeeze out this pair of Crochet Basic Fingerless Gloves and one headband that you can see here.

To crochet the cuff, we will use single crochet stitches worked either in the back or front loops only.

Then, we will close the cuff as a tube and start working the body of the glove in successive rounds. Each round is joined with a slip stitch.

Body

Keeping the right side facing out, roll the cuff so that the short sides touch each other. It does not matter if you do not seam the cuff right away. However, it is important to close the cuff with a sl st in the top, outer sc.

The body of the gloves is crocheted in successive rounds, thus do not turn your work.

Round 1. Ch 1, (Inc 1, hdc 4) 3 times. Join with a sl st on top of the first hdc. (18 sts)

  2. Just making your gloves and have a question. After starting to work in the round, do I need to chain one or two after each round so that when I get to the end of the round I am joining in the chain stitch? There is no chin stitches at the start or end of the round. Thank you for your time:

  3. Hi! I would love to make these. When it says inc, what type of increase is it calling for? Just a loop over?

to increase, I just made two hdc sts into the same st but you can use any other increasing technique 🙂
